Gerald “Jay” Schofield has been practicing law in the State of Maine since he was admitted to the Bar in 2009.  He joined Hopkinson & Abbondanza in January, 2012.  Jay’s primary areas of practice include: residential and commercial real estate; estate planning and probate matters; corporate and business planning; and general civil litigation.  Jay has handled a wide range of civil matters in his representation of clients since joining H & A.

Jay received his Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Cum Laude, in 2008.  He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Lawrence University in 2005, where he also played four years of Varsity Ice Hockey, and was a member of Delta Tau Delta.  Prior to joining H & A, Jay practiced law as a general solo practitioner in the Southern Maine area.

Jay is a member of the Maine State Bar Association, WealthCounsel, and ElderCounsel.  He frequently speaks at estate planning seminars in conjunction with financial advisors.  Jay volunteers his time to assist in coaching youth hockey with the MidCoast Youth Hockey Association, and he has been the Coach of the Falmouth Middle School Varsity Ice Hockey Program since 2011.

Jay lives in Bath with his wife, Catherine, and his two young sons, Aidan and Connor.  He is an avid sports fan, with a strong passion for the Boston Bruins.  In his free time, he enjoys traveling, golf, attending sporting events and concerts, and other outdoor activities with his family and friends.
